$120,000PilotBoston Dynamics' flagship humanoid platform — a hydraulic research robot since 2013, relaunched in 2024 as an all-electric system with 360 degree joint rotation, built for industrial deployment with Hyundai and Google DeepMind.
Atlas is Boston Dynamics' flagship humanoid platform. The original Atlas, introduced in 2013, was a hydraulic robot developed under DARPA's Robotics Challenge program. Over the next decade it became famous for parkour, backflips, and rough-terrain locomotion across hundreds of public demos, and matured into the most agile humanoid in the field.
In April 2024 Boston Dynamics retired the hydraulic version and unveiled an entirely new all-electric Atlas. The electric platform replaces hydraulic actuators with quieter high-precision electric motors, gives every major joint 360-degree continuous rotation, and is engineered for sustained industrial deployment rather than research demos. Hyundai, which acquired Boston Dynamics in 2021, is the launch customer.
By late 2025 the electric Atlas was running, sorting parts, and handling autonomous engine-cover assembly with a Large Behavior Model co-developed with the Toyota Research Institute. At CES 2026 Boston Dynamics confirmed that the 2026 production fleet is already fully committed to Hyundai's Robotics Metaplant Application Center and to Google DeepMind.
