Kangaroo is the bipedal-locomotion research platform from Barcelona-based PAL Robotics — a 160 cm headless humanoid weighing 35-40 kg depending on lite / standard / pro trim (pal-robotics.com).
Key design: 28 DoF, custom force-controlled linear actuators, novel hybrid leg structure with a decoupled leg-length actuator that separates vertical extension from hip swing — improves energy efficiency during locomotion. Motors concentrated in the torso for low moving inertia. Now generally available for purchase by researchers and educators. Part of the Horizon-Europe PRIMI project (Nov 2023 → Dec 2027) targeting a personal robot that thinks, learns and moves with human-like precision.
