TARA GEN1 is India's most-advanced semi-humanoid robot, built by Kerala-based iHub Research and Robotics (ihubrobotics.com). The 163 cm / 75 kg wheeled platform features autonomous navigation with obstacle avoidance plus manual remote control fallback.
The AI stack uses advanced large language models for multilingual natural conversation + contextual responses + interactive guidance. Face + gesture recognition tracks human faces, responds to hand gestures and maintains eye contact. An 11-inch high-resolution touchscreen presents information, menus, ticketing and promotions. Already exported to UAE and Saudi Arabia for reception / patient support / airport assistance roles. iHub Robotics secured ₹4.3 Crore (~$0.5M) to build India's largest humanoid robotics facility.
