RoboThespian Research: Complete Interaction

RoboThespian, a humanoid robot from Engineered Arts, demonstrates a conversational interaction at the University of Kaiserslautern.

In this talk

  1. 0:02

    Inviting a conversation

RoboThespian greets a nearby person and invites them to engage. It asks about their dinner and encourages them to come closer.

  2. 0:18

    Handling limited hearing

The robot says it cannot hear the person and asks for responses through nods, head shakes, or hand movements. It then offers information about the University of Kaiserslautern, describing it as a technical university established in 1970 by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate to advance science and technology.

  3. 1:01

    Offering music

When the person appears inattentive, RoboThespian asks whether they want music and offers to sing. It performs a short song after the music begins.

  4. 1:53

    Sharing weather and signing off

RoboThespian reports cloudy conditions at minus one degree Celsius, with partly cloudy skies expected, and says tomorrow should reach five degrees. It then says it is tired and ends the interaction.
