Mapcable’s work and mission
Mapcable is Fundació MAP’s industrial business, which serves people with disabilities and supports them across different stages of life. It produces electrical cable harnesses, including for ventilation clients, and handles the work so products arrive ready to install. The operation has about 70 employees and occupies 5,000 square meters.

Technology as a work aid
Mapcable sees robotics, 3D printing, and intelligent machines as tools for its workplace. The representative says technology is not intended to remove jobs at the special employment center. Instead, it can help people with mobility or physical limitations take part in tasks that would otherwise be difficult for them.

TIAGo keeps materials moving
TIAGo transports materials from production toward quality control and shipping, while people remain involved in the work. Previously, materials and orders could pile up, leaving shipping staff to manage many references at once. The robot now makes autonomous trips and helps maintain a steadier flow.

Everyday use built acceptance
Employees initially questioned whether TIAGo would work with the site’s electric vehicle and processes. After several weeks of seeing it operate and using it daily, the team accepted it as a practical tool.

Local support mattered
For Fundació MAP, choosing a technology provider involved more than the product. Its representative says proximity to PAL Robotics was essential and brought practical advantages, alongside the foundation’s interest in supporting robotics.
