Scale without changing the product
Coconut Cult grew from a 13,000-square-foot facility to a 300,000-square-foot facility in five years. The company says it wants to preserve its product and ingredients as it grows.

Automation extends an artisanal process
The team previously handled lidding, labeling, stickers, tamper bands, case packing, and taping by hand. Staff are still needed for how the yogurt is made, while automation provides more capacity for downstream tasks.

A turnkey line handles packing and palletizing
IPM integrated the line from the filler through palletizing to meet the need for greater capacity and throughput. Cases are packed and conveyed to a KUKA cell, where two IONTEC arms arrange products into layers and a QUANTEC arm places each layer on a pallet.

Robot choices and controls support the line
IPM selected IONTEC arms for the quick movements needed to form layers and a QUANTEC arm for the required payload. The system uses Joulin vacuum tooling, ConveyorTech and FlexPal software, and SafeOperation to keep the arms within designated zones.

Capacity supports distribution and new flavors
IPM says the line increases Coconut Cult’s production capacity and can free staff for other work. Coconut Cult expects to produce up to ten times more and says the additional capacity can support monthly flavor launches and distribution across more storefronts.
