A robot tailored to its use
Engineered Arts describes Mesmer as a humanoid robot system for entertainment and research. Customers can tailor its appearance, performance, and content for uses such as education, trade shows, attractions, and public information.

Building lifelike movement
The narrator describes movable eyes, realistic blinking, and actuated mouth and brow movement. Mesmer’s stretchy silicone skin is painted and fitted with individual human hairs. Beneath it, a five-axis neck supports smooth movement, while the eyes, teeth, and tongue are made with cameras, painting, and 3D printing.

Tracking and scripted performance
Mesmer says HD cameras in its eyes support movement tracking, face and expression detection, and human interaction. Its two-axis jaw and lip movement can be choreographed with a script or synced to audio. The narrator says heads detach for transport or swapping.

Content and remote interaction
Venues can use preloaded content or create their own with Engineered Arts’ Virtual Robot software. Owen describes Tin Man telepresence, which lets a remote operator use a laptop, PC, or tablet to see and hear through the robot and speak through its animated mouth.
